Floating Stair Warranty & Aftercare

We engineer, fabricate and install every stair ourselves, so we put it in writing: 10 years on the steel structure, 2 years on installation, and a free check-up one year after we finish.

10 years on the steel.

Structural steel in a dry interior lasts for generations. We stand behind ours for a decade.

10Years · structural

For 10 years we warrant that the steel structure of your staircase is free of defects in materials and welding. That covers:

  • Cracking or failure of any weld
  • Fracture, permanent bending or deformation of a stringer, bracket or connection plate
  • Deflection under normal residential use beyond the limit on the engineer's drawings (L/360 unless stated otherwise)

What we do: repair or replace the affected steel part, including the labor to take it out and put it back.

2 years on installation.

Our own crew installs every stair, so the workmanship is ours too.

2Years · workmanship

For 2 years we warrant the installation work done by our crew:

  • Anchors and fasteners that loosen or pull out
  • Treads that come loose, shift or squeak at their fixing points
  • Misalignment or settlement caused by how the stair was installed
  • Lighting wiring and drivers installed by us

The finish is covered separately: 5 years on the factory powder coat of interior stairs against peeling, blistering, flaking or chalking.confirm

Free check-up after year one.

Wood treads settle in their first year, and New York and New Jersey humidity swings between summer and the heating season. So we come back.

Six conditions, all in our hands.

Most of these are simply how we work. The warranty applies when all six are true.

  1. Engineered by STAIRIXBuilt to drawings stamped by a licensed Professional Engineer in New York or New Jersey.
  2. Installed by our crewStairs installed by others are not covered by the 10-year and 2-year terms.
  3. Approved supportThe wall, framing or slab was built by us, or inspected and accepted by us in a signed Substrate Acceptance form before install.
  4. Interior residential useInside a single-family home, townhouse, condo or apartment.
  5. Paid in fullUnder the project contract.
  6. Basic careCleaned and maintained as described in the care guide we hand over at the walk-through.

Why we can promise ten years.

A long warranty is only honest if the stair is built for it.

If something's not right.

Three steps, no forms to hunt for.

  1. Tell usEmail or call with your address, project number and a few photos of the issue.confirm
  2. We inspectWe reply within 2 business days and schedule a visit.confirm
  3. We fix itIf the issue is covered, the repair costs you nothing.
Report earlyTell us as soon as you notice a problem. Using a stair with a visible structural defect can cause more damage, and that added damage isn't covered.
Selling your home? The warranty stays with the house. The new owner keeps the remaining term by registering the transfer with us within 60 days of closing.confirm

Warranty questions.

Something else? Ask us before you sign, and we'll put the answer in your contract.

How long is the STAIRIX floating stair warranty?

10 years on the steel structure, 2 years on installation, and 5 years on the interior powder-coat finish.

Do you check the stair after installation?

Yes. Every STAIRIX stair gets a free check-up 11–13 months after installation: we re-tighten fixings, inspect the steel and lighting, care for oil-finished treads and give you a written report.

Does the warranty cover wood treads?

Installation problems with treads are covered for 2 years. Natural wood movement and wear of the finish are not. See seasonal wood movement in treads.

Is the warranty valid if another contractor installs the stair?

No. The 10-year and 2-year terms apply only to stairs installed by STAIRIX.

Do you cover outdoor floating stairs?

Not under this warranty. Exterior projects get terms written into their contract.

Will my floating stair squeak?

A well-fixed stair shouldn't. If treads start to squeak at their fixings in the first 2 years, that's covered, and the first-year check-up re-tightens everything before it starts. More in do floating stairs squeak?
